What kind of things does the chamber do, and why should I join?

HOW THE CHAMBER SUPPORTS ITS MEMBERship

The Redwood Coast Chamber of Commerce…

·  Produces a full-color promotional BROCHURE with MAPS, BUSINESS DIRECTORY and MEMBER ADVERTISING for distribution both within and outside the Chamber’s service area, including at other Chamber’s of Commerce in Mendocino and Sonoma Counties, at the California Welcome Centers, Visitor's Information Centers, CSAA offices and in response to requests from travel agents, civic organizations, libraries and others.  All members receive a FREE LISTING with business name and phone number in the Directory.  A display ad may be purchased for an additional fee. All display ads includes cross-reference numbers to the directory and map, indicating the business location.

·  Maintains a nationally-marketed web site that includes a complete Business Directory, Event Calendars, Local Weather, Maps with directions to the Redwood Coast from various metro areas and major arterials, area history, information about the Chamber and the numerous communities it serves in northern Sonoma and southern Mendocino Counties. Membership includes a FREE web listing with full contact information, a web link and descriptive text, to be listed in up to two categories. Additional categories are available for $25 each. The Business Directory is accessed in several ways on the website, by category and business name, and by community. 

·  Maintains both toll free and local phone numbers for inquiries.  The Chamber business office provides referrals to Chamber member businesses only!

·  Produces an online Newsletter, Making Waves, which contains articles of interest to members, including opportunities for co-op advertising, activities of the Chamber Board and Committees, bios of new members and listings of upcoming special events.  Past issues are archived on the Chamber website.
(Members may submit articles to the Editor as a value-added benefit, see below.)

·  Hosts Business Breakfasts with presentations of interest to members, often in collaboration with other organizations such as the Gualala Municipal Advisory Council.

·  Facilitates "Business After Hours" Chamber mixers held at member businesses to stimulate networking between members and to introduce non-members to member business people. 

·  Presides over Grand Openings with Ribbon Cuttings for new business members, or for new member business locations or openings of additional office locations.

·  Produces, sponsors or participates in special events such as the Redwood Coast Whale & Jazz Festival, Independence Day activities, "Christmas on the Coast" Events. Click here for the Redwood Coast Community Events Calendar or the Special Events Calendar (for Chamber or Chamber member events).

·  Maintains representation on the Mendocino County Alliance (MCA) board of directors and is affiliated with the Sonoma County Tourism Bureau (SCTB) and the Redwood Empire Association (REA) and is linked to their websites.

·  Sponsors a Scholarship Program for graduating high school students going on to higher education, who live and are employed within the Chamber service area.

·  Supports member non-profit organizations with marketing for their fundraising events and activities.  View the Arts Organizations, Community Resources, Environmental Organizations & Services and Service Clubs  that belong to the Chamber.

Below are some additional Value-Added Benefits available to Chamber Members:

Ø Members may use the Chamber’s Pre-sorted (bulk) mailing permit for substantial savings when mailing 200+ pieces.  Forms with instructions are available at the Chamber office.

Ø Members sponsoring new members receive 10% of the dues of the sponsored member as a discount upon renewal!  Click for form in pdf format.

Ø Members are offered opportunities to save money through for group advertising in the Sonoma County Official Visitors Guide, The Coastal Traveler, the ICO and other publications.

Ø New Chamber members receive FREE matched advertising from member radio stations KOZT 93.9 & 95.9 FM  “The Coast” to equal the member’s annual investment.  Available for up to six months from the date of joining (certain restrictions apply).

Ø New Chamber members receive a Special Advertising Package (Buy one ad, get one FREE!) from local Chamber member radio station  KTDE 100.5 FM “The Tide”.  This offer is available for up to six months from the date of joining.
